Many job seekers assume that finding part-time jobs with benefits isn’t incredibly hard. In reality, many companies offer employees who work less than full-time some pretty solid options.
If you’re looking for jobs with benefits but can’t work full-time, here’s what you need to know.
What Are Part-Time Jobs?
Before we dig into the jobs, let’s talk about what part-time means.
First, it’s important to understand that there isn’t really a legal definition. The Department of Labor outright says that “the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) does not define full-time employment or part-time employment.” Additionally, while the Bureau of Labor Statistics considers 35 hours per week to be the cutoff for full-time for statistical purposes, that isn’t legally binding.
However, most people view 40 hours per week as being full-time. Plus, some companies do use 35 hours per week as the cutoff, though that isn’t universal.
